Orto botanico - Botanic GardenThis amazing Botanic garden is like a piece of heaven in the city center. Is not really visible and known and you have to cross the Brera palace where the Pinacoteca is placed, at the end of it you will find the oasi. You can sit and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere surrounded by green and high trees. This is the reason why I love this place, it is a quite and lovely place in the heart of the city. Who could imagine finding such strange houses in Milan? Igloo Houses are situated in Maggiolina area, near the famous “Villaggio dei giornalisti”. In total there are eight igloo houses built in 1946 and inspired by the American style. Are all private houses and the atmosphere in the neighbour is incredible. It’s like to be in a fairy-tale. In this area there are other peculiar houses and constructions: the best way to enjoy it is to just walk around without any destination and observe everything. One of the most suggestive house is Villa Figini, a palafitte that disrupt the panorama continuity. Where they are: Via Lepanto Milano – Igloo Houses Via Perrone di San Martino 8 Milan – Villa Figini How to reach it:
You are just walk in the center of the city, but after you turn the corner on via Serbelloni, it seems like you’ve entered a different world. Just like a magic moment we peek behind the majestic Villa Invernizzi’s fance and stare with our mouths wide-open at the spectacle: a garden with a group of beautiful pink flamingos. They taking pleasure in their stride, they flap, they start skirmishes with their beaks, or they sleep, balanced on one leg. They are like a piece of magic that leaves us astonished as we observe them. The atmosphere is unrealistic and the time stops. Villa Invernizzi is located between corso Venezia and via Cappuccini. Around twelve flamingos, all born in captivity and imported from Africa, live here. They are social animals that love to be together, but at the same time, they are shy and reserved. They remember me the personality of the average resident of Milan. The first time I visited this place I was really young I cannot even remember how old I was, probably less than 8 years old. For me was an incredible view, “how could they be here?” was the first question I ask myself. But after that the magic atmosphere prevail and you can just stay there and admire all the splendour. Unfortunately, you can just see the animals and the garden form outside, since the garden and the villa are private and not accessible. But if you can wait no more than 5 minutes the vision of them is guaranteed. Where it is: Via Cappuccini, 7, 20122 Milan
